Traditionally, nearly 800 people gather at the Maritime Museum to celebrate Charlevoix's maritime heritage through the history of schooners and coastal shipping on the Saint Lawrence River.
The exciting free program for the day includes a historical escape game in the form of a backpack, tracing the footsteps of sailors and builders of yore, the new immersive exhibition Shipwrecks, and of course, the return of classics: a lecture by the museum's volunteer scientific advisor on shipwrecks, a hot-dog lunch, a cardboard boat competition, and the famous small boat race on the Boudreault River.
As part of this festive day, the Museum is proud to present a performance of sea shanties and maritime tales by the group Amarre & Basse.
Amarre & Basse is a sea shanty group from Bas-Saint-Laurent. Through song, storytelling, and their generous music, they transport us alternately to sea and to a tavern. Their compositions are often imbued with emotions, enhanced by the presence of bass guitar, harmonica, brass, percussion, and guitar. An invitation to travel.
