Une voix pour être aimée: Maria Callas at Domaine Forget
Marc Hervieux, tenor, actor and director
Sophie Faucher, actress
Dominic Boulianne, piano
Sophie Faucher and Marc Hervieux come together to create a unique and original project on the life and career of Maria Callas. Sophie Faucher will play this larger-than-life character on stage in a show entitled A voice to be loved: Maria Callas, marks the 100th anniversary of the singer's birth. Marc Hervieux, in addition to directing, will play his great friend Giuseppe Di Stefano, the tenor with whom the diva finished her final tour.
Maria Callas was a great singer, a passionate woman, flayed alive. We find her in her Parisian apartment during the summer of 1977, where she lives as a recluse in deep solitude. That day, she received her accompanying pianist Robert Sutherland and her friend Giuseppe Di Stefano. With them, she dives back into her recordings under the pretext of telling them about her life. A life that oscillates painfully between international glory and her burning love for Aristotle Onassis, who left her for Jackie Kennedy, throwing her into immense grief from which she will never recover.
Sophie Faucher and Anne Bryan are the co-authors of A Voice to Be Loved: Maria Callas. This story, both romantic and heartbreaking, is supported by music and archives that transport us to the very heart of the world of passionaria.
